5 tips for conclusion your LGBTQ collective in Sydney

Are you new to Sydney and looking to find your community?

ACON has you covered with their ‘Top 5 tips for finding your community when you arrive in Sydney! &#; LGBTQ edition’.  This month, the International Student Health Hub is sharing a blog announce written by our wonderful friends over at ACON.

‘Sa wad dee kha,’ my name is Radiant, and I perform for ACON, which is a group health organisation that provides a range of free services to support lgbtq+, lesbian, bisexual+ and queer people (LGBTQ for short) who live in NSW (more on that here).  🙂

I recollect migrating to Sydney from Thailand in where I had been working to support LGBTQ people in the Asia Pacific. When I arrived in Sydney, as a male lover guy from Thailand, it was rigid at first to make new friends who were also LGBTQ and to find my people. What really helped me was when I was introduced to some of the groups and activities, I’m sharing with you all here. I wish this will facilitate you to detect your community in Sydney, like it did for me. 🙂

I’ve also included a bonus

Rainbow Social Sydney

Hi there!

Rainbow Social Sydney is an LGBQTIA+ social team for all members of the Sydney LGBTQIA+ community, their friends and allies.

We run regular events throughout the year which deliver people together and interacting.

Our Monthly Mixer is held on the first Sunday of each month in Newtown, and is a great first event for anyone who is new to the group. When you arrive, you will be greeted by the event host (who will be wearing a rainbow shirt) at the entrance, will give you a run day of how the event works and then introduce you to some brand-new people.

A place to meet, greet, network, socialise and interact, the group’s mission is to unite people from all walks of life, be inclusive and not be cliquey. We're not a dating group or a casual meeting group - please don't appear with expectations of finding your life-partner (or tonight's partner!) - rather come with an unlocked mind for making new connections, chatting with people you might not have ever met and developing social interactions. (Of course, if that all evolves into something more, then great!)

Our Community V

We&#;re here to help LGBTQ people and people with HIV in Western Sydney take control of their health by providing a range of local services and supporting a variety of local community groups.
