About Venice and its gay life
Venice, the lagoon city on the Adriatic Sea, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. The historic center of Venice is located on more than a hundred islands, between which pass the legendary canals, a total of more than channels with almost bridges.
As a hub for trade between Europe, Asia and Africa, Venice had achieved considerable prosperity in the Middle Ages. The then Republic of Venice was a major economic and political power and the municipality was one of the first financial centers in European history.

When we first visited, we were very excited to discover a gay block in Venice and spent a lot of time researching ‘gay bars Venice, Italy’.
For such a popular and trendy destination, we were surprised to come across a lack of gay bars or gay clubs in Venice [no_toc]
In reality, we found that the nightlife scene here is very relaxed, easy going and involves having many Aperols (which we love). Venice is a super romantic city and we found that it was a great option for us visiting as a gay couple.
With that in intellect, it’s not so surprising that there isn’t really any gay nightlife in Venice…..or is there..
Gay Bars in Venice
Whilst there is no gay bars on the archipelago of Venice, which is where you will likely stay and explore, there are options nearby.
Nearest lgbtq+ club or same-sex attracted bar in Venice?
Venice is an amazing destination and it felt very lgbtq+ friendly. That might be one of the reasons for there being a lack of homosexual bars – everyone is welcome everywhere.
This was definitely the case for us and we felt very much at ease to contain a romantic wee
Venice is one of those places that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.
It’s a unique set of archipelago islands, with only boats and gondolas for transport and many beautiful bridges connecting what used to be over a hundred individual villages.
Once we had set foot into the city, we immediately fell in love with its charm and felt enjoy we had escaped into some sort of passionate film set.
What’s more, when travelling to Venice, male lover travellers like ourselves should feel very welcome.
We spent two nights on our ‘gay Venice’ trip and managed to cover plenty of the city whilst still having a relaxing and enjoyable time.

From our trial, yes, Venice is queer friendly. Whilst it may not have a huge gay scene, Venice felt safe, LGBTQ friendly and put us at ease.
