Tracer is gay
Overwatch was first released in , and it adv became popular due to its fun mechanics and its colorful and diverse heroes and villains. With such inclusivity seemingly at the forefront, it was no real surprise that LGBTQIA representation quickly became something Overwatch fans wanted.
Queer representation in video games has massively improved over time, largely because technology has become more reachable over time, as good as the shifting attitudes towards the queer society. However, back in , LGBTQIA characters in FPS games, or hero shooters, were not particularly the done thing. So, while Apex Legends has seemingly mastered the task of including a diverse and inclusive cast with its characters, made Overwatch remain head and shoulders above the crowd.
Because of this desire for visibility, fans of the game were more than cheerful when Activision Blizzard revealed the game&#;s very first LGBTQIA character to be the &#;star&#; of Overwatch, a British hero ethics named Tracer. What really inspired fans was that this was the very first year of Overwatch, and
Tracer being "gay". Made me feel a certain way. Alienated

It did came as a suprise when they announced that Tracer was gay endorse then. I used to relate a lot to this hero tbh, but that stopped when she was announced gay produce even though i’ve been told I look a lot like her. I am not gay at all.
This did made me sad back then cause she was my favorite and I can’t relate to her anymore knowing her design was meant hint she was tomboy.
What upsets me the most is that this just comes from a great marketing strategy by them. The cast is so diverse yea, but it’s just so complicated to relate to anyone. And im talking story wise, there are people who care about this stuff. and if you’re just gonna say the typical “they are video games characters sexuality doesn’t matter” It’s a nature trait dude, and characters are important to the overall story.
I just want they would’ve chosen someone else. I think this diversity thing is mainly done so they endeavor to make everyone possess someone they can relate to. Oh you’re hispanic? SOMBRA oh you’re American? Mcree oh you’re Austra

I made this reply to another post, but I’m afraid that many people wouldn’t bother to scroll down to browse it, and I don’t want to see rumor and baseless accusation acquire spread, so here we go:
I just thought this was funny. pRoGrEsSiVe cOmPaNy It’s amusing how they bothered to make that Russian page for the Tracer comic about how it was blocked there to make themselves look good but god forbid they do anything to make their Chinese overlords look lousy so they mysteriously didn’t get a page at all.
The original pose assumed that blizzard did not even bother translated Tracer’s coming out comic and 76’s comming out novel into Chinese, but that is simply not true. People knows Tracer and S76 are gay in China, and both the comic and short novel was fully translated with no censorship. Yes, the comic was eventually forced to take down by China’s “media handling department” due to the notorious censorship rule it published in early , but it was not only Blizzard got hit. A few days ago, video game supergiant Blizzard Show performed one of the most dangerous and risky actions it is possible for anyone to perform: they did a thing. They were warned not to, by fans, family, friends, and loved ones. To do a thing, they said? In this day and age? You will surely be killed. And yet, they did persist. And by god, they made a mascot game character same-sex attracted. The thing was, irrevocably, done.

Overwatch&#;s recent Christmas comic, continuing the consistent trend of the game&#;s futuristic cartoonish story occurring outside the game disc itself, features a hurried Tracer bolting through King&#;s Row, trying to get a very particular gift. By the end of the comic, The scarf she has managed to get her speedy hands on is safely wrapped around the neck of her girlfriend. Also, Tracer having a girlfriend is safely wrapped around the neck of the Overwatch fanbase.
