For my 21st birthday, I decided to spend all my savings and spend my special week in the beautiful gay-friendly island of Mykonos with one of my closest gay BFFs (he’s cute I promise). I want to share how we decided to consume a week in paradise on a Student/Young Adult’s Budget.

My friend from North America booked last minute tickets (like a two weeks before my birthday) and flew from Canada to Manchester, England where I met him. His flight cost $ from Toronto (YYZ) to Manchester lead with Air Transat. This is my first tidbit of advice. Never travel directly to your vacation destination, especially when a direct flight to the Greek Islands could charge double or triple that price! Heck, make a trip to London via Manchester, since $ is such a bargain to explore more of that side of the pond. I always suggest looking at when comparing flights! You can get a flight from Manchester to Mykonos for under $ with  during the summer time! So instead of forking over $+ to go to the Greek Islands, take a detour with two flights for only $ BAM! Much savings.

Mykonos is the gay hotspot of Greece and for good reason!

We fell in love with Mykonos during our first visit with it’s iconic cobbled streets, white washed building, pristine beaches, culinary delights and vibrant gay scene – it really was a mini gay paradise.

It’s also incredibly stylish, trendy and caters well to those who like their luxury. You can expect to see many expensive yachts cruising around the island and equally many attractive guys also cruising around the island!

Mykonos has been known as a queer destination for years and home to one of the largest and most well-known gay circuit parties each August, Xlsior Mykonos, which draws crowds of over 30, gay men!

Party scene aside, Mykonos is a picturesque and relaxing island. If you are looking for an idyllic island getaway, we highly recommend.

In our gay Mykonos guide we will divide everything you need to know, from the optimal gay beaches and queer bars, gay hotels, excursions, gay events and some practical tips for planning you trip.
