Shameless: Exploring the Intersection of Class, Gender, and Sexuality with Ian Gallagher and his relationships.
Intersectionality occurs in many other ways in Shameless. Specifically, in this post, the concentrate will be on the character Ian, and his short relationship with Trevor and his current husband Mickey. From these relationships, gender and sexuality intersect to promote inclusivity among all gender and identities and sexualities. While class is present to showcase the struggles or lack of struggles Mickey, Trevor, and Ian experience because of their gender/sexual individuality. This intersection starts with Ian, one of the Gallagher siblings, who identifies as a gay male. When Ian comes out to his family, they are accepting although they make jokes about it from time to time.

Not a queer rugby player, a rugby player who is gay. After spending some age with Gareth Thomas &#; the renowned rugby player who became even more famous when he came out a year ago and announced that he was gay &#; Mickey feels it&#;s an important wording issue worth pointing out.
After his shocking announcement last year, Sports Illustrated claimed that he&#;s the only openly gay team player in the pos, which is why it shouldn&#;t be a surprise that Hollywood swooped down and quickly plans to turn the story into a film. I challenge SI&#;s claim is true, but I&#;ll admit I&#;m already interested in the movie project just by seeing Gareth&#;s charismatic and irrational face above. Not only has Rourke announced that he&#;d be taking on Gareth&#;s physically taxing role in the unnamed film, but also that he&#;ll be learning Welsh along the way.
I like Rourke almost as much as most people, but is anyone else doubting Rourke on this role choice? Maybe it&#;s that The Wrestlerhas me thinking of Mickey as physically weak, but
The Evolution of Queer Humor on SNL
To say I grew up with Saturday Night Live would be an understatement. When I was still too young to watch, I would listen through the grate outside my bedroom door as my parents watched. At family parties, we would watch the “best of” VHS compilations. But I also knew “It’s Pat” before I’d ever heard the word transgender, or that there were real options for kids like me to live beyond the binary. The closest thing to “representation” I remember on SNL in the ‘90s and s was “Ambiguously Gay Duo” and “Mickey the Dyke”—characters created by straight people. SNL is now something I look forward to because the show is finally for and by us.
It’s damning that, in its year history, SNL has only had six openly lgbtq+ cast members. Three of whom—Kate McKinnon, Bowen Yang, and Punkie Johnson—were part of the most recent season.
