&#;From my childhood, I always had this attraction towards men. Karthik knew that he was same-sex attracted even before we met. Karthik’s family slowly learnt his desire for the same gender. Fortunately, over the years, they understood his feelings and standard the way he was. Wherein, I got abused when I was very young by my teacher, which made me become lgbtq+, for which I’m happy now.

We met for the first time in Karthik’s office &#; Saghodharan, which is in Aminjikarai, Chennai. I wore a mask and entered the room where he was looking after the accounts. Suddenly, our eyes fell on each other and there sparked something between us.

We decided to endure friends for a while until we understand each other completely. After 3 months of chatting and talking over the phone, I couldn’t wait further to express my love for him.

There is a scene in the film where the two women are in bed, but Udeep chose not to show them making love. “I didn’t want to use the characters to titillate the audience. The point of the scene was to display the emotional connection between two characters, the fact that they’re there for each other,” said Udeep.

Another trope that Udeep wanted to avoid was turning the story of the two women into a tragedy. “There are too many depressing stories when it comes to the society, and it’s true that they face a lot of difficulties. But, I wanted to normalise their identity. I didn’t crave to emphasise that this is a taboo. I wanted this plot thread to have the same light-hearted treatment as the rest of the film,” she said.

Sunthar agreed with Udeep on the lack of happy lgbtq+ sto
